ICC Announces Hybrid Model For Champions Trophy 2025
Under the ICC, all events of the PCB and the Indian Cricket Board, including the Champions Trophy, will be played under the hybrid model until 2027.
According to an ICC spokesperson, Pakistan’s matches in all ICC events (scheduled in India) from the Champions Trophy 2025 to 2027 will be held at neutral venues.
The Green Shirts will also refrain from traveling to India, both boards have agreed to the conditional agreement by the ICC.
Under the agreement, Pakistan-India matches will also be held at neutral venues during the 2025 Men’s Champions Trophy in Pakistan, the 2025 Women’s ODI World Cup in India, and the T20 World Cup scheduled in India and Sri Lanka.
If the hybrid model is accepted, the ICC can also host Pakistan in the T20 Women’s World Cup in 2028.
Similarly, a tri-series will also be scheduled for Pakistan so that the PCB can be provided with money as compensation or gate money from the Pakistan-India match during the Champions Trophy.
Earlier, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi had given a clear message to the International Cricket Council (ICC) that India can’t refuse to play events held in Pakistan and we will go there and accept if the decision is made based on equality.
In the Champions Trophy to be held under the hybrid model, if the Indian team does not reach the semi-finals or the final, the entire event will be played in Pakistan, otherwise, a semi-final and final will be held in the United Arab Emirates upon the arrival of the Indian team.
The Pakistan-India match in the event will also be played in Dubai, while the Indian team will play all three of its group matches at the same venue.
