Imran Khan Indicted in GHQ Attack Case
Rawalpindi: PTI founder Imran Khan has been indicted in the GHQ attack case, while opposition leader Omar Ayub has also been taken into custody.
Judge Amjad Ali Shah of the special anti-terrorism court heard the May 9 GHQ attack case in Adiala Jail,
in which the court indicted PTI founder Imran Khan. The anti-terrorism court indicted Sheikh Rashid, Omar Ayub, and Sheikh Rashid Shafiq.
The anti-terrorism court indicted 100 accused present, which includes charges of sedition, terrorism, attempted murder, vandalism, arson and criminal conspiracy.
After the court indicted, all the accused, including the PTI founder, denied the charges.
PTI founder Sheikh Rashid, Sadaqat Abbasi, Omar Ayub, Zartaj Gul, Sheikh Rashid Shafiq, Wasiq Qayyum Abbasi, Malik Ahmed Chatha, Raja Basharat, Usman Dar, Ashraf Khan Sohna and others were present in the court at the time of the indictment.
After the court verdict, the Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Omar Ayub was taken into custody. At the same time, former Law Minister Raja Basharat was also arrested as soon as he left jail.
In addition, PTI worker Azeem was also arrested. Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Ahmed Chatha was also taken into custody and shifted to Adiala police station.
Rawalpindi police arrested 4 PTI leaders including Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Omar Ayub.
All the leaders have been arrested in cases registered in the context of violent protests on Final Call.
The court adjourned the next hearing of the case until December 10 and summoned the prosecution’s testimony.
Earlier, Omar Ayub, Zartaj Gul, Rashid Shafiq, Sadaqat Abbasi, Wasiq Qayyum Abbasi, Javed Kausar, Sajid Qureshi, Musarrat Jamshed Cheema, Muhammad Ahmed Chatta, Usman Dar reached Adiala Jail to appear in the hearing of the case.
The court had summoned all the accused in the GHQ attack case today, and 120 accused, including the founding chairman of PTI, were to be indicted.
The court has also summoned former Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi from Lahore Jail in connection with the case.
The court had ordered the arrest and production of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, Shibli Faraz, Shireen Mazari, Zartaj Gul, Zain Qureshi, and Taiba Raja.
In addition to them, an order was issued to arrest and produce all the other 45 absent accused.
The court had ordered that if the accused with arrest warrants do not appear, legal action will be initiated to declare them absconders.
