Islamabad Police’s SP Industrial Area, Adeel Akbar, has reportedly taken his own life, leaving the police department in shock and grief.
According to sources, SP Adeel Akbar, who hailed from District Gujrat, shot himself with a service pistol on Thursday. He was a topper of the 46th Common batch of the Police Service of Pakistan (PSP).
Sources revealed that SP Adeel Akbar was suffering from dengue fever but continued to perform his duties with full dedication. He leaves behind a one-year-old daughter.
Insiders say the officer had been under severe depression due to a delay in his promotion. All his batchmates were promoted to SP rank last year, while his promotion was postponed until the next board meeting.
Police shifted him to a nearby hospital immediately after the incident, but he could not survive. An official inquiry has been launched to determine the exact cause behind the tragic event.
