Inflation picked up ahead of the Budget, with inflation rising by 0.45 percent every week.
According to the weekly report issued by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, the overall annual rate of inflation in the country reached 21.69%.
The price-sensitive index examines the prices of 51 commodities from 50 markets in 17 cities, 19 commodities became expensive, 14 commodities became cheaper and 18 remained stable during the period under review.
According to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, the price of onion has increased by Rs 33 per kg in the recent week, similarly, the tomato has increased by Rs 10, gram dal by Rs 7, live chicken by Rs 6, daal mash by Rs 6 per kg.
He further said that in a week, bananas became expensive by Rs 7 per dozen while the price of fresh milk, goat meat, and potatoes also increased.
According to the Statistics Institute, basmati rice has become cheaper by Rs.3 per kg, eggs by Rs.2 per dozen, similarly, a bag of 20 kg flour has become cheaper by Rs.13.
