Two Dead, Eight Injured in Violent Clash Between Religious Groups in Golimar

A violent clash between two religious groups in Karachi’s Golimar area on Sunday resulted in the deaths of two men and left eight others injured. The conflict erupted when a rally organized by one of the groups passed through Rizvia Society, sparking tensions that quickly escalated into violence.

According to District West DIG Irfan Baloch, the violence began with stone-throwing during the rally, which ignited further chaos. Unidentified gunmen took advantage of the disorder, opening fire and killing two men identified as Muhammad Sherry and Muhammad Junaid. The exchange of gunfire left eight others injured.

The situation spiraled out of control as members of both groups continued to clash, setting fire to multiple vehicles, including a bus, two rickshaws, a high-roof van, and three motorcycles. The arson attacks caused significant property damage and further heightened the tension in the area.

Rangers and police contingents swiftly arrived at the scene, managing to bring the situation under control through negotiations with the leaders of both groups. The burned vehicles were later removed with the help of a lifter.

Karachi police chief AIG Javed Alam Odho has ordered a detailed report from DIG West and SSP Central. He emphasized that discussions with the group leaders have helped de-escalate the situation. The police are continuing their investigation and have vowed to take action against those responsible for the violence.

The clash led to widespread fear in the area, causing shops to close and disrupting traffic flow. Authorities are now focused on restoring peace and ensuring that such incidents do not recur.
