Two-Day Leadership Workshop for Women Journalists

Empowering women journalists in Islamabad and Rawalpindi with leadership, negotiation, and decision-making skills to boost career growth, influence, and visibility in media spaces.

The Institute for Research, Advocacy & Development (IRADA), supported by the Canadian Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI), is organizing a two-day leadership workshop for women journalists in Islamabad. This initiative focuses on empowering women working in Pakistan’s media sector by enhancing leadership, negotiation, safety, and decision-making skills.

Challenges Facing Women in Media

Women journalists face unique challenges, including navigating male-dominated newsrooms, limited access to leadership positions, and lack of visibility in professional networks. This workshop is designed to help participants overcome these barriers by equipping them with the skills, confidence, and knowledge required to succeed.

What the Workshop Offers

The Leadership Training for Women Journalists will focus on:

  • Leadership and Influence: Techniques to lead effectively and gain respect in professional settings.

  • Negotiation Skills: Tools for salary discussions, role allocation, and professional opportunities.

  • Safety in the Workplace: Guidelines to ensure physical and digital safety during reporting.

  • Strategic Decision-Making: Skills for making informed and confident career and organizational decisions.

  • Understanding Press Clubs and Unions: Leveraging professional associations for career growth.

  • Long-Term Career Planning: Creating a personal roadmap to achieve leadership ambitions.

Workshop Schedule

  • Dates: 23rd – 24th December

  • Time: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm (both days)

  • Location: Islamabad (venue details shared with shortlisted candidates)

Eligibility Criteria

  • Open only to women journalists residing in Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

  • Selection is based on experience, eligibility, and motivation.

  • Limited seats are available, and submitting an application does not guarantee selection.
