Turkish Defence Minister Visits Air Headquarters Islamabad

 A high-level delegation led by Mr. Yaşar Güler, Minister of Defence of the Republic of Turkiye, visited Air Headquarters Islamabad and met with Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force (PAF). The meeting focused on the evolving regional security environment, the status of ongoing defence cooperation, and potential collaboration in emerging areas of modern warfare.

During the discussions, the Air Chief emphasized the deep-rooted and brotherly relations between Pakistan and Turkiye, highlighting shared strategic interests and mutual aspirations. He reiterated the PAF’s commitment to further strengthening bilateral ties, particularly in advanced training and aerospace technologies. Both sides agreed to establish joint working groups to facilitate and accelerate progress across key areas of mutual interest.

Mr. Yaşar Güler expressed sincere appreciation for the warm welcome and hospitality extended by the Pakistan Air Force. He praised PAF’s exemplary performance and operational readiness under the leadership of the Air Chief, especially during the recent conflict with India, commending the force’s decisive role in defending national sovereignty.

The Turkish Defence Minister reaffirmed Turkiye’s desire to deepen defence collaboration through enhanced industry-to-industry cooperation. He stressed the importance of exploring joint ventures in next-generation technologies, including disruptive innovations, advanced avionics, and unmanned aerial systems. He also appreciated PAF’s continued support for the pilot exchange programme, describing it as a crucial platform for professional development and mutual understanding between the two air forces.

Both leaders agreed to finalize plans for enhanced training collaboration and reiterated their commitment to expanding joint bilateral and multilateral air exercises.

The visit of the Turkish Defence Minister to Air Headquarters underscores the shared resolve of Pakistan and Turkiye to strengthen strategic defence cooperation, reinforce military ties, and build enduring institutional linkages between their armed forces.
