This Year’s Sadaqah-ul-Fitr and Fidyah Rates Announced
The Islamic Ideological Council has set the amount of Sadaqah-ul-Fitr and Fidyah Sawm for the holy month of Ramadan.
According to Dr. Raghib Naeemi, Chairman of the Islamic Ideological Council, Sadaqah-ul-Fitr and Fidyah Sawm will be paid at least Rs. 220 per person this year.
He said Rs. 220 should be paid for wheat, Rs. 450 for barley, and Rs. 1650 for dates.
Dr. Naeemi further said that Rs. 2500 and Rs. 5,000 for raisins should be paid for Sadaqah-ul-Fitr and Fidyah Sawm.
The benefactors should pay Sadaqah-ul-Fitr and Fidyah Sawm according to their financial status, however, paying Sadaqah-ul-Fitr is obligatory on every slave and free Muslim man and woman.
Furthermore, the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee meeting to see the moon of Ramadan will be held on February 28.
