There Will Be No Negotiations With Terrorists: DG ISPR

Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has said that the security of Pakistan is guaranteed by its armed forces, not by Kabul.

Briefing senior journalists, the DG ISPR stated that Pakistan never celebrated the Taliban’s return to power in Afghanistan. “We have ongoing conflicts with militant groups such as the TTP and BLA. Operations against these organizations are continuing,” he said.

Responding to a question about drone activity, he clarified that Pakistan has no agreement with the United States regarding drone operations. “The Taliban regime has not filed any formal complaint about drones. During talks in Istanbul, we made it clear to the Taliban that controlling terrorism is their responsibility. These militants fled to Afghanistan during Pakistan’s counterterrorism operations — they should be handed over to us so we can deal with them according to our law and constitution.”

General Ahmed Sharif further explained that the real issue lies in the nexus between terrorism, criminal networks, and the TTP. “These groups cultivate opium, earning between 1.8 to 2.5 million rupees per acre. Local populations and warlords align with them, and the profits are shared among the Afghan Taliban, TTP, and these warlords,” he revealed.

Addressing another question, the DG ISPR stated, “If a new position or rank is created within the armed forces, it is the prerogative of the government, not the military.”
