Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that the general public is suffering due to inflation, while the elites are receiving subsidies that will soon be abolished.
He emphasized that he and his team were elected to serve the nation with renewed zeal. The government’s performance over the past 16 months has been observed by the whole country, and its greatest achievement has been to save the nation from bankruptcy. Shehbaz Sharif urged his team to work diligently without wasting time.
He also mentioned that the government is providing billions of rupees to the Benazir Income Support Program and will closely monitor the utility stores. The biggest challenge faced by the nation at present is inflation, and it is imperative to bring it under control. The first test is to control the prices of goods, especially during Ramadan, and any shortage in utility stores will not be tolerated.
The government is determined to provide relief to the poor. Furthermore, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed concern over the poverty and deprivation faced by the poor, while the elites control over 90% of the country’s resources. This inequality is clearly against the principles of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. He also pointed out that electricity theft amounts to an annual loss of 500 billion rupees, which is a burden on the poor. The sooner the subsidies for the elites are removed, the better it will be for the nation. The revolving debt of electricity has reached a staggering 5 thousand billion rupees.
