Taliban Claims 58 Pakistani Soldiers Killed Amid Escalating Border Tensions

Kabul:  Zabiullah Mujahid, spokesperson for the Afghan Taliban government, claimed that 58 Pakistani soldiers were killed and 30 others injured during a recent operation against Pakistani forces. He further stated that Afghan forces destroyed several Pakistani posts and temporarily seized some weapons. According to Mujahid, nine Afghan soldiers were killed and 16 wounded in the clashes, and 20 Pakistani security posts were completely destroyed.

Mujahid said the attacks occurred near the Durand Line, in Afghan provinces including Kunar, Helmand, and other border regions, as a response to alleged Pakistani airstrikes in Afghanistan. He also alleged that ISIS-K has been given refuge in Pakistan, with training centers reportedly located in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, from where militants are transported via Karachi and Islamabad airports.

The situation at the Chaman border remains tense. Pakistani air force jets carried out strikes on a key Taliban facility near the border. The border has been completely sealed, all traffic halted, and trade activities suspended. Security forces have been placed on high alert, and local sources report widespread fear and panic in the area.

The recent escalation has further strained diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan. Analysts emphasize the urgent need for dialogue and diplomatic engagement to restore peace and stability in the region.
