Sydney Shooting: Injured Attacker Charged With Terrorism And 50 Other Offences

Australian police have formally charged the injured attacker involved in the Bondi Beach shooting incident in Sydney, indicting him on 50 charges, including terrorism-related offenses.

According to Australian authorities, the wounded suspect was presented before the court, where multiple serious charges were filed against him in connection with the deadly attack at Bondi Beach.

Meanwhile, Philippine Presidential Spokesperson Claire Castro has rejected claims that the attackers received terrorist training in the Philippines. She stated that there is no evidence to support reports portraying the Philippines as a training hub for ISIS or any other terrorist organization.

Philippine military spokesperson Colonel Francel Padilla also clarified that no major counterterrorism operations have taken place in the country since the beginning of 2024, adding that militant groups are scattered and lack organized leadership.

It is worth recalling that three days ago, two armed assailants opened fire at Bondi Beach, killing 15 people and injuring more than 40 others. One attacker was killed at the scene, while the second was arrested in an injured condition.

The deceased attacker was identified as Sajid Akram, a resident of Hyderabad, Telangana, India. Police revealed that Sajid Akram arrived in Australia on a student visa in 1998, while his son, Naveed Akram, was born in Australia and holds Australian citizenship.
