Pakistani TikToker Sundal Khattak files nomination papers to contest upcoming polls with aim of empowering women, solving issues plaguing her hometown

PESHAWAR: As the deadline for the submission of nomination papers for candidates aspiring to contest upcoming polls ends today (Sunday), TikTok star Sundal Khattak also filed her documents for a women’s reserved seat from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, announcing her association with politics.Â
Speaking to Geo News, Sundal said that she has joined politics with the aim of addressing the issues plaguing her hometown, which according to her, faces a scarcity of basic utilities such as gas, electricity and water as well as poor road infrastructure.
“[My] objective would be to empower women,” she added while elaborating on her political agenda.Â
Answering an inquiry in regards to her connection with any ideological group, the TikToker, whose genuine name is Sundal Shamim, uncovered that she has offers from a few ideological groups to go along with them.
In any case, the social media personality refrained from taking any names, keeping up with that she can’t uncover her political alliance as of now.
Sundal, a former associate of another social media personality, Hareem Shah, rose to the limelight after being allegedly involved in a controversy of leaking a video featuring the latter — a claim that she vehemently denies.
She was reserved for a situation after Hareem documented a grumbling with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), yet was subsequently conceded bail by a nearby court in Islamabad in June.
“In the wake of hearing every one of the contentions, the court endorsed Sundal’s post-capture bail,” her legal advisor had told.
“No proof was found from Sundal’s portable and no such proof was found during the examination. As per the TikTok rules, no shameless recordings can be transferred in TikTok. Whoever made this video had Hareem Shah’s own assent and she was snickering in the video. Sundal Khattak plays no part in it nor has she made the video nor made it viral.”
Sundal had showed up before the Counteraction of Electronic Violations Court Judge Azam Khan.
