Islamabad: The federal government has decided to end the current net metering system.
The government has decided to install a 600 MW solar power plant with investors from Saudi Arabia, which will be installed on an intergovernmental basis without the bidding of Saudi Arabia. The Prime Minister has directed to preparation of two separate rates for the purchase and sale of solar power.
The government has imposed monthly fixed charges on consumers installing solar systems, amended the net metering regulation and separately. It has been decided to introduce a tariff category.
On the other hand, it has been said in the statement issued by the Power Division that the news about ending the net metering policy is not true, no instructions have been received from the Prime Minister regarding the net metering policy.
