Sindh Approves Rs. 232 million for Re-examination of MDCAT

Sindh Governor Syed Murad Ali Shah has approved allocation of Rs. 23.21 million for renewal of Admission to Medical and Dental College (MDCAT) in Sukkur.

At the Sindh Cabinet meeting, the Chief Minister said that information leakage has not only damaged reputation but also harmed future students. “I want clarity on all exams including MDCAT,” he says.

The Commission announced that MDCAT has been held in Sindh every year since 2017-18 with centres in Karachi, Hyderabad, Nawabshah, Sukkur and Larkana. Following the latest document leak, the matter has been taken to the Supreme Court.

Board of Trade (IBA) Karachi has denied any further involvement in the conduct of MDCAT and hence IBA Sukkur will now oversee the entire review. MDCAT correction will be done within six weeks.

CM has approved allocation of Rs 663 billion for the construction of 8 roads damaged due to recent floods and heavy rains. It allows for urgent purchase of these items.

This road consists of 9/1 to 3 km Johi to Chhini Road, 5 km Johi, Wahi Pandhi to Golo Faqir, 9 km Baid to Mian Naseer Mohammad Kalhoro Road (Dadu District), 27 km Oda to Mirwah via Snjhar Chang, 17.6 km Tando Allahyar, Tando Adam-Shahdadpur Road, Distt Sanghar, 51 km Jhirk Mulakatiar Road to Nooriabad via Jhimpir flyover, over 3 km Sujawal City Road, Sanghar Chotiyariyon Road to Chotiyarion Dam and road. The cost of the project is Rs 1.25 billion.

The Commission announced that the Health Ministry had transferred 13 hospitals, five in Sujawal district and eight in Thatta district, to the Medical Emergency Response Foundation (MERF) through a competitive process.

An agreement was signed on March 19, 2015, under which the management and financial management of five hospitals in Sujawal district were transferred to the health department by a private partner for a period of five years.

The Cabinet said that eight buildings in Tata would be transferred to the Liaquat University of Health Sciences (LUMHS), Jamshoro, which has set up a college in Tata.

To support the renovation of the LUMHS Teaching Hospital, the Cabinet extended the contract with the existing private partner by six months to give LUMHS time to manage the facilities.
