Sikandar Sultan Raja should resign and go home: JI’s Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman

In the aftermath of the Supreme Court of Pakistan’s judgement on the case of the reserved seat, Central Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman, has called for the resignation of the Election Commission, stating they should step down and leave their current positions.

Replying to a recent Supreme Court ruling, Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman stated gratitude, saying, “Thank God, the veil of doubt has been lifted.” He welcomed the Supreme Court’s verdict regarding specific seats, praising them as just. The rulings have shown the dual standards of certain parties who had unlawfully occupied these seats against public mandate.

The Supreme Court today stated that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was entitled to kept seats and that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP)’s decision to assign reserved seats to the ruling alliance was unconstitutional.

Candidates of the PTI cannot be declared independent candidates, nor representatives of any other party, the verdict said adding that the ECP had incorrectly acknowledged members of PTI as independents.

“The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is a political party and will remains a political party”, the order said while educating the PTI to submit a list of its reserved seats candidates within 15 days.

Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman also said that some parties were playing a double game, emphasizing that this issue should not be well-thought-out resolved.
The JI leader encouraged for the establishment of a judicial commission to guarantee that seats in the national and provincial assemblies are returned to their legal owners based on Form 45.
