The Shaheen Chowk underpass project in the federal capital, Islamabad, has entered its final stages. About 90% of the work has been completed, and it is expected to open for traffic next week.
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited the underpass site and conducted a detailed inspection of the ongoing construction activities. He reviewed the project’s progress on-site and directed that the work be completed within the stipulated timeline while maintaining speed and quality.
The CDA Chairman briefed the Interior Minister on the progress made so far. The structural work of the underpass has been completed, while roadwork and finishing touches are still in progress. The Interior Minister instructed that no compromise be made on construction standards and also directed modern landscaping and tree plantation around the project.
The visit was attended by IG Islamabad, CDA Chairman, CDA members, Additional Deputy Commissioner Islamabad, and other relevant officials. Once the Shaheen Chowk underpass is opened, traffic flow on Islamabad’s main roads will be restored, and congestion is expected to reduce significantly.
