Former caretaker Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar stated that there is excellent coordination between the Shahbaz Sharif government and the GHQ (General Headquarters), and they will continue to operate on the same page.
Anwarul Haq Kakar explained that this time, the coordination between the GHQ and the Prime Minister’s House has been exemplary.
He further said that in the past, matters sometimes became tangled before completing half the journey, but this time, there is a consensus between the military establishment and the federal government, instead of any disagreements.
The former caretaker Prime Minister expressed his belief that this system will continue as is. He also emphasized that there is strategic clarity within Pakistan at present, and there is excellent synergy between the government and military leadership, which will allow the country’s policies to remain consistent and coordinated.
“Joint Economic Discussions Held Under SIFC”
Anwarul Haq Kakar confidently stated that a “one-page” policy seems to be in effect this time. He added that a formal system has been set up under the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), where major economic matters are discussed jointly.
He mentioned that some circles in the country advocate only for dialogue, while others focus solely on the use of power. However, Pakistan has effectively utilized both strategies under a unified approach.
He clarified that Pakistan has used power effectively while maintaining a clear stance in dialogue. He stated that the state’s primary goal is to protect its people from any form of threat, whether it comes from Afghan territory, India, or the Iranian border, and Pakistan will take all necessary measures to safeguard its citizens.
“Pakistan Does Not Want to Control Afghanistan”
Regarding the Taliban government in Afghanistan, Anwarul Haq Kakar stated that Pakistan does not seek to overthrow the Afghan Taliban government or control its foreign policy.
He referred to the historical context, stating that with Pakistan’s support and training, Afghanistan was able to defeat the Soviet Union, and yet they criticize Pakistan for it.
He explained that Afghanistan chose to fight a war against the world, and Pakistan merely requested the handover of Osama bin Laden, which Afghanistan refused. He emphasized that the decision to engage in that war was made by Afghanistan, not Pakistan.
**”Negotiation and Power Both Are Crucial”**
Anwarul Haq Kakar explained that the ceasefire talks and grand strategy have been based on negotiations, and an approach that relies solely on either negotiations or the use of power is flawed.
He pointed to the tough policies of PTI (Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf), suggesting they should understand that both power and negotiations are important tools.
Clear Stance on Law, Power, and Terrorism
Anwarul Haq Kakar stated that the law and power, when applied equally, can stop organizations like TLP (Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan) from resorting to violence and vandalism.
He clarified that this is not a political, democratic, or religious stance, but a matter of enforcing the rule of law. He mentioned that if someone tries to block a major road to create news, they themselves become the news because the government’s power is stronger.
Anwarul Haq Kakar further stated that political or religious thuggery would not be tolerated. He also emphasized that if anyone attacks minorities, they are committing a crime.
