Saudi Assistant Defense Minister Talal Bin Abdullah Bin Turki Al-Otaibi met Pakistani Chief of Army Staff Gen Syed Asim Munir on Friday to discuss defense collaboration projects. Al-Otaibi had arrived in Pakistan earlier in the week to finalize defense-related bilateral projects. The visit comes after Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud’s two-day visit to Islamabad, which aimed to enhance bilateral economic cooperation and push forward previously agreed investment deals.
During the meeting, both parties discussed measures to enhance bilateral defense collaboration, including military training and defense production. Concrete proposals were deliberated to meet tangible objectives within specific timelines. The forum also discussed challenges to global and regional security and noted the need for defense-industrial cooperation between the two countries.
Al-Otaibi also participated in the Fifth Meeting of Pakistan-KSA Defense Collaboration, where the visiting dignitary acknowledged the Pakistan Army’s achievements and sacrifices in the war against terrorism and their valuable contributions towards regional peace and stability. The Pakistan Army maintains close military ties with Saudi Arabia, providing the Saudi armed forces with extensive support, arms, and training. The two countries regularly carry out multidimensional joint ventures and defense exercises.
