The court ordered that consumers in Balochistan should only pay 10 percent of the bills sent by the gas company, while the High Court will decide on the remaining amount during a hearing in the Balochistan High Court, a bench comprising Justice Muhammad Kamran Khan Malakhil and Justice Nazir Ahmed Longo heard a constitutional petition filed by Syed Nazir Agha Advocate regarding issues of low gas pressure, load shedding, and new charges in bills in Balochistan.
During the hearing, several people appeared including Additional Advocate General Shah Haq Baloch, Muhammad Farooq of Sui Southern Gas Company, Muhammad Anwar Nasir, Muhammad Imran of Billing Section, and Law Officer Makhdoom.
The petitioner, Syed Nazir Agha, Advocate, claimed that Sui Southern Gas Company was sending excessive bills to consumers in Balochistan. He presented bills sent to consumers in Karachi, Sukkur, Quetta, and other cities and asked the bench to examine them. The petitioner shared that a consumer in Karachi was charged Rs 1273 for using 62 mmbtu of gas, a consumer in Sukkur was charged Rs 905 for using 39 mmbtu of gas, and a consumer in Quetta was charged Rs 56 mmbtu. The total amount billed for 303 mmbtu was Rs 42,253.
