Islamabad: Under the Prime Minister’s Youth Program (PMYP), the Qalandars Provincial Cricket League has officially begun in Quetta, marking a historic national initiative to discover and train young cricketers across Pakistan.
The league’s opening phase is being held from October 27 to 31 at Bugti Stadium, Quetta, featuring five regional teams from Balochistan — Quetta, Turbat, Khuzdar, Loralai, and Dera Murad Jamali. Players were selected through open merit trials held across the province to ensure equal opportunities for all talented youth.
This league, a key component of the PM Youth Program, aims to establish a structured and sustainable platform for emerging cricketers. It provides talent identification, professional training, and competitive exposure from the grassroots level.
Following the Balochistan stage, the league will expand to Sindh, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and the Federal Capital, ensuring representation and opportunity for young cricketers nationwide.
The long-term goal of this initiative is to create a consistent pipeline of new talent for Pakistan’s domestic and national teams. Through coaching, mentorship, and organized competition, the program seeks to groom future international-standard cricketers for the country.
