Punjab Flood Victims to Get Rs. 1 Million Compensation Each
Lahore: On the special directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, a comprehensive relief and rehabilitation operation has been launched across the province for flood-affected families.
An important meeting was held at the PDMA head office in Lahore under the chairmanship of Punjab Relief Commissioner Nabeel Javed. The meeting reviewed in detail the damages caused by floods and the framework for providing financial assistance to the victims. Senior officials from the Home Department, PDMA, Irrigation, Agriculture, Local Government, C&W, and Urban Unit attended the meeting.
Relief Commissioner Nabeel Javed announced that a comprehensive survey would begin on September 12, with representatives from the Urban Unit, Pakistan Army, Revenue staff, Agriculture, and Livestock departments. The survey will collect complete data regarding human loss, crop destruction, damaged houses, and livestock losses.
According to the commissioner, so far, 4,155 villages have been affected, impacting around 4.151 million people across Punjab. The families of those who lost their lives in the floods are being compensated with Rs. 1 million (10 lakh) each, while financial assistance will also be provided for completely or partially damaged houses.
He further stated that compensation will be distributed on a per-acre basis for damaged crops, and livestock owners will also be compensated for their losses.
It was decided in the meeting that the final approval of the relief package would be given by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz herself to ensure transparency and timely support for all victims.
