Protests against alleged rape in Lahore spread to Rawalpindi, more than 150 arrested

It is being told that the protest over the alleged rape of a Punjab College student in the provincial capital Lahore has spread to different cities.

Protesting against the incident of the alleged rape of a female student in Rawalpindi, students pelted stones on the college campus near Khanna Bridge, and the windows of the building and parked buses and vehicles were broken.

Enlarging the scope of the protest, the students also protested on Morgah Jhelum Road and Gujar Khan GT Road. The angry students took items from the college library and set them on fire on the service road within the limits of Express Highway Islamabad.

It has been learned that after the protest of the students, the police reached the spot and dispersed the protestors, Rawalpindi police were put on high alert to deal with the protest and keep the law and order situation under control.

The district police has set up a special security plan, security has also been deployed at government and semi-government universities and colleges, including private school and college branches.

In total, more than 1400 police officers and jawans performed their duties, three SPs, 9 DSPs, 23 SHOs, and other forces were deployed on security duty.
