President, PM Pledge Better Facilities For The Blind
World Braille Day 2025 is being observed today, with the theme “Celebrating Access and Inclusion for Blind People”.
Braille, a unique system of six dots, represents not only letters and numbers but also music, mathematics, and scientific symbols.
The system is essential for the visually impaired’s education, information, and autonomy. Braille was named after its inventor, 19th-century Frenchman Louis Braille.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, highlighting the importance of the day, reiterated the government’s commitment to improving access to education and other facilities for the blind.
The two chiefs focused on the need to make an open society that engages the outwardly disabled.
President Asif Ali Zardari, in his message, said that giving top-notch instructive substance in Braille the nation over is fundamental for the social and financial autonomy of the outwardly impeded.
He said that Braille is an important source of knowledge and information that helps the visually impaired live an independent life.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, while appreciating the usefulness of Braille, said that it is not just a tool for reading and writing but a gateway to inclusion and equal opportunities.
He said that this system has opened the doors of knowledge and freedom for millions of blind people around the world.
He added that on this day, we join the international community in celebrating the transformative power of Braille.
He expressed his resolve to equip schools with Braille books and establish special centers for the visually impaired.
Both leaders urged the public to play their role in promoting accessibility and inclusion in society so that the visually impaired can also lead an independent and dignified life.
This day reminds us that Braille is not just a system, but a movement that leads the visually impaired towards a brighter future.
