A suspicious bag has been recovered from near the meeting hall of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
According to the police, a hand grenade, detonator, wire, and other explosive materials were found in the bag.
The bomb disposal squad has also reached and is investigating.
On the other hand, several routes from Rawalpindi to Islamabad, including Faizabad, were closed given the PTI rally.
A security red alert is in place across the district based on the instructions of the Islamabad administration to maintain public order.
Alternative routes connecting Rawalpindi to Islamabad are open.
