ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has directed to make technical and technical education uniform and to establish Pakistan Skill Company and Skill Development Fund for better employment of Pakistani workforce abroad and to establish a committee for reforms in the field of technical and technical training.

According to the statement issued by the media wing of the Prime Minister’s Office on Wednesday, the Prime Minister expressed these views in a high-level review meeting regarding the Ministry of Overseas Pakistani Affairs and Manpower Development and the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission chaired by him. Sarfraz Ahmed, Deputy Chairman Planning Commission Jahanzeb Khan, and Concerned senior officials participated. In the meeting, the Prime Minister was informed about the steps taken by NAVTTC regarding the technical and technical training of the workforce in Pakistan. The meeting was told that NAVTTC will provide technical and technical training to 60,000 people this year, while after the completion of reforms, a total of 6,000,000 people will be provided with technical and technical training in the next three years.
The meeting was told that for technical and technical training, not only the exchange of information about employment opportunities and required skills from foreign countries is being ensured, but also the data on manpower consumption is obtained from the local industry in this regard.
The meeting was further informed that NAVTTC has made the certification of male and female students from reputed institutes of international standards mandatory to ensure global standards of technical and technical training. The meeting was further informed that the Minister According to Azam’s instructions, quota has not only been allocated for the youth of Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir at the federal level, but a separate program is being launched for their special training, which will begin in June this year. The meeting was also given a detailed briefing regarding the Ministry of Overseas Pakistani Affairs and Manpower Development and recommendations on reforms were also presented. In the meeting, the Prime Minister decided to reform the Ministry of Overseas Pakistani Affairs and Manpower Development and NAVTTC and directed that a nationwide technical and Pakistan Skill Company should be established to standardize technical education and better employment of the Pakistani workforce abroad.
The Prime Minister also directed to immediately start work on the establishment of the Pakistan Skill Development Fund, Pakistan Skill Company, and Pakistan Skill Development Fund. The Prime Minister directed that NAVTTC should be made more active to ensure the provision of world-class technical and technical training to the young manpower of Pakistan. World-renowned and international certifications should be ensured in all technical fields. The Prime Minister further directed that for the development of Pakistani manpower and bringing the quality of technical and technical education to the global level, the federal institutions should ensure linkages and cooperation with the provinces and for the manpower equipped with the best and world-class professional technical skills.
A coordinated system of regulation should be ensured. The Prime Minister said that together with NADRA, NAVTTC, and all the provincial institutions, a coordinated and organized database of manpower existing in the country and abroad should be created. The Prime Minister directed to implementation of technical and technical training planning in line with international standards. The Prime Minister also directed reforms in the licensing regime of companies regarding employment abroad to the Pakistani technical and technical workforce.
The Prime Minister said that such companies and people should be identified who cheat the Pakistani workforce and cause economic loss to them. Such elements lead to the popularity of Pakistan in the world. Special consideration should be given to merit and transparency in the appointments of community welfare attachés in Pakistani embassies. The Prime Minister directed that a committee should be established for the reforms of the technical and technical training sector in Pakistan, which will make recommendations for the sector as a whole and the committee will also make recommendations on the reforms of the Ministry of Overseas Pakistani Affairs and Manpower Development.
