PM Shehbaz Orders Global Audit of FBR Reforms
Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif chaired an important review meeting on FBR affairs, in which a detailed review of the ongoing reform measures in the institution, transparency, and progress of the digital system was conducted.
The Prime Minister directed to seek the services of world-renowned companies for third-party validation of the reforms carried out in the FBR and said that “after the historic success of the struggle for justice, the government of Pakistan is determined to make the country a stable global economy.”
He said that institutional reforms are underway across the country and the government is taking every possible step to eliminate corruption, promote transparency and remove shortcomings in the system.
Expressing satisfaction over the recent performance of the Faceless Customs Assessment System, the Prime Minister said that positive results of this reform system are emerging, which has led to an increase in revenue and a significant reduction in customs clearance time.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister was also briefed on the ongoing reforms in Pakistan Revenue Automation Limited (PRAL) and the progress on the digital tax return system.
The briefing was informed that an easy digital tax return system in Urdu and other regional languages ​​will be introduced soon for common users.
PM Shehbaz said that the positive effects of the government’s economic policies in the right direction are coming to the fore, and God willing, this struggle to make Pakistan economically stable will be successful.
Federal Ministers Azam Nazir Tarar, Attaullah Tarar, Chairman FBR and senior officers of relevant institutions were present in the meeting.
