PM Shehbaz Invites American Banks To Invest In Pakistan’s Key Sectors

A delegation of prominent Pakistani American bankers met Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on the occasion of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

The delegation included representatives of prominent banks including JP Morgan, Netizens Corporations and Investments, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, Goldman Sachs Citizens Bank, Lazard, Audex Group.

The Prime Minister informed the delegation about the important steps taken by the government to stabilize the economy and attract foreign investment in Pakistan.

These include expansion of the tax base, facilitation and promotion of business and ongoing reforms in government institutions.

Shahbaz Sharif said that as a result of these measures, economic indicators have improved and Pakistan’s credit rating by international rating agencies including Fitch and Moody’s has increased.

He also briefed the delegation on the establishment of a sustainable financial framework, which would assist the government in issuing green, sustainability bonds in the international capital markets.

While thanking the Prime Minister, the delegation appreciated the policies of the government which are playing an important role in achieving economic stability in Pakistan.

The delegation expressed keen interest in collaborating with the government to develop the manufacturing sector, particularly SMEs, to help promote exports.

Shahbaz Sharif invited American banks to invest in Pakistan in the key sectors of infrastructure, energy, technology and agriculture.

and assured the government’s commitment to maintain a stable macroeconomic environment to facilitate foreign investors.
