PM Shehbaz Concludes Tajikistan Visit

Dushanbe: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif left Dushanbe to return home after completing a two-day official visit to Tajikistan.

Tajik Deputy Prime Minister Hakim Khaliqzadeh bid him farewell at the airport. Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Syed Tariq Fatemi were also present on the occasion.

During the visit, the Prime Minister held an important meeting with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon, in which detailed discussions were held on promoting cooperation between the two countries in the fields of trade, energy, environmental protection, and regional security.

The Prime Minister thanked the Tajik leadership for its support to Pakistan in the backdrop of recent tensions between Pakistan and India in South Asia and reiterated his commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations.

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif attended the global “Conference on Glacier Conservation (IGCP 2025)” held in Dushanbe, and while addressing the gathering, said that Pakistan is being severely affected by climate change, where more than 13,000 glaciers are melting rapidly.

He appealed to the international community to take practical, collective, and immediate steps to deal with the environmental crisis.

He said that although Pakistan’s share in global greenhouse gas emissions is only 0.5%, it is the only country that is facing the serious impacts of climate change.

Describing the conservation of glaciers as one of Pakistan’s national priorities, the Prime Minister called on developed countries to fulfill the environmental promises made to developing countries to ensure a safe and sustainable future.
