Pen-Marked Notes to Be Banned from July 1

The State Bank of Pakistan has banned any kind of writing on currency notes with a pen and announced that from July 1, 2025, all such notes with any writing on them with a pen will be considered unacceptable.

The announcement issued by the central bank said that with the start of the new financial year 2025-26, only clean and writing-free notes will be acceptable.

The practice of writing numbers or any marks on notes with pen, which is often adopted by shopkeepers during counting, affects the beauty of the currency.

The State Bank has appealed to the citizens to deposit all such notes with the central bank by June 30, 2025, as after that, these notes will not be acceptable for any transaction.

This decision has been taken to maintain the safety, quality, and beauty of currency notes so that clean currency continues to circulate in the market.
