Parliamentary Committee Finally Greenlights Constitutional Amendment

ISLAMABAD: The special committee of the Parliament for the 26th constitutional amendments has approved the draft which will be presented in the cabinet meeting. The proposals of the coalition parties were not included in the draft. ANP boycotted the meeting while PTI and JUI opposed the draft.

The meeting of the Special Committee of the Parliament was held at the Parliament House. Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Law Minister Nazir Tarar, PTI member Aamir Dogar, JUIF member Shahida Akhtar Ali, PML-N Irfan Siddiqui, MQM Aminul Haque, PP Raja Parvez were present in the meeting. Ashraf and Sherry Rehman, Rana Tanveer, Senator Anusha Rehman, Chaudhry Salik Hussain, Ejazul Haque, Khalid Hussain Magsi, and others participated.

On arrival at the Parliament House, the journalist asked whether the constitutional amendment would be done. Khurshid Shah replied Inshallah! All effort will be made The journalist asked if it would be done today. Today So he replied that haste is not good.

Raja Pervaiz Ashraf replied to journalists’ questions that very good and positive progress is being made. Ishaq Dar said that efforts are on for amendments.

In a statement at the start of the meeting, PTI member Aamir Dogar said that the constitutional amendment is the work of the government. We have come out with a shroud on our heads. Some of our members are taking shelter. The blanket and the boundary wall are being trampled forcibly. Legislation is being made.Maulana Fazlur Rehman supports our position.
