Pakistan’s Nuclear Arsenal Secure and Invincible: DG ISPR
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s nuclear arsenal is fully secure and invincible against any external threats, asserted Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director-General, Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, on Wednesday.
In an exclusive interview with Al Jazeera TV, the military spokesperson emphasized that Pakistan remains a responsible and declared nuclear power with a completely secure nuclear programme. “Our nuclear capability is invincible, and no one can dare to target our nuclear programme,” he reiterated.
Addressing broader geopolitical concerns, General Chaudhry also reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for Iran amidst Israeli aggression. He explained, “Iran is a brotherly Islamic neighbor to Pakistan, and our relations with Iran are deeply rooted in shared faith, history, and culture.” He further clarified that Pakistan’s support for Iran during the ongoing conflict has been grounded in principles, aligning with the UN Charter, international law, and the laws of armed conflict.
When questioned about any potential security concerns within Pakistan’s military establishment regarding the possibility of the country becoming a target following recent tensions with Iran, General Chaudhry was quick to dismiss such notions. He said, “There is no concern whatsoever in the military that Pakistan could become the next target — absolutely no concern.”
He explained that there is a vast difference between Pakistan and countries that may face external aggression. “We are an established and declared nuclear power, and no country in the world has any experience of targeting, or even attempting to target, a nuclear power,” he asserted. “Any such misadventure would result in catastrophic consequences that the world would not be able to endure.”
General Chaudhry further stated, “I have said it before and I will repeat it: seeking military conflict with an established nuclear power for any elusive objective is sheer stupidity and inconceivable.”
India’s Support for Terrorism a Key Threat to Pakistan
The ISPR spokesperson also highlighted India’s involvement in supporting terrorism to destabilize Pakistan, particularly in the restive region of Balochistan. General Chaudhry stated, “India’s support for terrorism is a deliberate and systematic effort to destabilize Pakistan, particularly in Balochistan.” He added that India has repeatedly admitted to its role in supporting terrorism within Pakistan.
Reiterating Pakistan’s stance on sovereignty, General Chaudhry emphasized that any form of aggression against Pakistan’s territorial integrity would be seen as a direct threat to regional stability.
