Pakistan’s First Cashless Market Opens in Islamabad

Islamabad: As part of the initiative to make the federal capital Pakistan’s first fully cashless and digital city, H-9 Weekly Market has been officially converted into the country’s first fully cashless market. The modern system was inaugurated by CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Member Finance, Chief Officer MCI, CEO Zindagi, representatives from the State Bank of Pakistan, CDA, and district administration officials, as well as a large number of traders and shoppers.

Chairman Randhawa Showcases Cashless Innovation as Islamabad Moves Toward Fully Digital City

During the event, Chairman Randhawa visited various market stalls, making purchases through digital payments and reviewing the arrangements. Officials stated that special discounts have been introduced for cashless users to encourage maximum adoption of the digital system.

According to CDA, the cashless system will soon be extended to all commercial centers, shopping malls, hospitals, hotels, restaurants, and Islamabad Airport.

Chairman Randhawa praised the efforts of MCI, commercial banks, and the Islamabad administration, stating that this initiative is a significant step toward providing modern facilities to citizens in line with the Prime Minister’s vision, with the goal of making Islamabad Pakistan’s first fully digital and cashless city.
