With the election of a new government, Pakistani passport fees have increased by an astounding 50%, This 50% move has sparked public outcry.
A standard 36-page for five years will now cost citizens Rs 4,500 under the revised fee schedule, a significant increase from the previous Rs 3,000. In a similar vein, the same category’s urgency fee increased from Rs 5,000 to Rs 7,500.
The standard cost of a 36-page Pakistani passport has increased to Rs 6,700 from Rs 4,500 for those choosing a 10-year validity period, while the expedited fee has increased to Rs 11,200 from Rs 7,500.
In order to obtain a 72-page passport valid for five years, citizens must now pay Rs 13,500 for expedited processing and Rs 8,200 for regular processing. A 100-page passport that is valid for ten years will cost an astounding Rs 20,200 for expedited processing, and Rs 12,400 for regular processing.
Step-by-Step Process for New Passport Application
The applicant will go through the following steps at Regional Passport Offices in Pakistan for obtaining the new Machine Readable Passport (MRP):
- Arrival of the Applicant at Customer Service Counter.
- Fee Verification + Capturing of Photograph + Token Issuance
- Biometrics/Finger Prints capture.
- Data Entry.
- Verification as per Office Record. (ECL/BL)
- Interview and Decision by Assistant Director.
- Passport Delivery (Collection of Passport)
