Pakistan and the United Kingdom have signed an agreement for a cooperation project in the field of climate change. Federal Minister Musaddiq Malik and the UK Minister of Planning attended the signing ceremony and officially endorsed the agreement.
Speaking at the event, Federal Minister Musaddiq Malik stated that Pakistan and the UK have been collaborating on climate change for several years. He highlighted that the recent floods claimed 4,700 lives, left 17,000 people injured or disabled, and displaced 40 million people. He added that the damage caused by the floods represents a significant portion of Pakistan’s GDP.
The UK Minister of Planning said that the UK-Pakistan Green Compact is highly significant for environmental protection and emphasized that both countries will work together under this program. She noted that the initiative aims to protect the citizens of both nations from the adverse effects of climate change.
