Pakistan, UAE Agree On Pre-immigration Clearance System

Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates have agreed to introduce a Pre-Immigration Clearance system to facilitate passengers, under which immigration and related clearance procedures will be completed within Pakistan.

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi held a meeting with a UAE delegation led by Ahmed bin Lahaj Al Falasi, Director General of Customs and Port Security. During the meeting, bilateral relations, mutual cooperation, and measures to simplify immigration procedures for travelers were discussed in detail.

Both sides agreed to sign a formal agreement regarding Pre-Immigration Clearance. The system will initially be launched on a pilot basis, with Karachi selected as the first city for implementation.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi stated that under this system, passengers will no longer have to undergo lengthy immigration procedures upon arrival in the UAE. Instead, they will be able to exit the airport like domestic passengers, saving time and improving the overall travel experience.

The UAE delegation termed the initiative beneficial for the people of both countries and assured full cooperation. Relevant authorities will remain in coordination to finalize administrative and technical arrangements, and following the success of the pilot project, the system will be gradually expanded to other locations.
