Pakistan to Observe “Youm-e-Tashakur” Nationwide on May 16

Islamabad: The Government of Pakistan has announced that Youm-e-Tashakur (Day of Gratitude) will be observed across the country on May 16, 2025, to pay tribute to the people of Pakistan and the Armed Forces for their historic victory in the battle for truth.

The day will begin with Quran recitation and special prayers in mosques nationwide. A 31-gun salute in the federal capital and a 21-gun salute in each provincial capital will mark the start of the celebrations. Guard-changing ceremonies will be held at Mazar-e-Quaid and Mazar-e-Iqbal, and flag-hoisting ceremonies will take place in Islamabad and all provincial capitals.

Floral tributes will be laid at martyrs’ memorials across the country, and prayer ceremonies will be organized in their honor. Special meetings will be held with the families of martyrs of Operation Bunyad-e-Murassas to pay homage to their sacrifices.

The main event of Youm-e-Tashakur will be held on the night of May 15 at the Pakistan Monument in Islamabad. Distinguished guests from all walks of life will attend the ceremony. Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif will be the chief guest, and the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, along with the heads of the Armed Forces, will also be present.
