Pakistan Railways (PR) has made the significant decision to run 22 passenger trains under the public-private partnership model.
The decision intends to improve passenger amenities and increase railway income.
The Karakoram Express, Karachi Express, Awam Express, Green Line, Mehr Express, Chenab Express, Saman Sarkar Express, Mohenjo Daro Express, Pak Business, Bolan Mail, Thal Express, Sukkur Express, Marvi Express, Chaman Express, Hazara Express, Shalimar Express, Bahauddin Zakariya Express, Kohat Express, Mehran Express, Attock Express, Jand Express and Rawalpindi Express are among the trains that will be run under the public-private partnership model.

He said that the dining cars have been refurbished and that additional premium dining cars will be added to the Zakariya and Tezgam Express trains.
Passengers have responded favourably to the “executive washrooms” built at the Lahore Railway Station, according to Baloch, who also predicts that over the next three months, comparable restrooms will be operational at all major stations.
More than 20 trains, including some of its most lucrative routes including the Green Line, Karakoram Express, and Pakistan Business Express, will be privatised by Pakistan Railways. The Pakistan Railways declared that the operation of these trains through the public-private partnership will yield revenues of Rs 25 billion.
According to the reports, the move to privatise these trains is meant to reduce operational inefficiencies and administrative costs.
The following trains are scheduled to be privatised under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP): Mohenjo Daro Passenger, Marvi Express, Bahauddin Zakaria Express, Kohat Express, Rawalpindi Passenger, Karachi Express, Awam Express, Bolan Mail, Chenab Express, Meher Express, Saman Sarkar Express, Hazara Express, Thal Express, Sukkur Express, and Rawalpindi Passenger.
