Pakistan and Indonesia have exchanged seven agreements and Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) aimed at enhancing cooperation in higher education, health, trade, technical training, and other key sectors.
The signing ceremony was held at the Prime Minister’s House, followed by a joint press conference addressed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif warmly welcomed the Indonesian President, stating that the discussions between both sides were highly productive. He said Pakistan and Indonesia have always stood by each other through every test, and the current visit will help elevate bilateral relations to new heights.
He further stated that both sides discussed balanced bilateral trade, cooperation in medical sciences, healthcare, and vocational training. It was also agreed that Pakistani doctors, medical professors, and specialists will be sent to Indonesia.
Highlighting the historic 75-year relationship, PM Shehbaz noted Indonesia’s solidarity with Pakistan during the 1965 war. Speaking on Palestine, he condemned Israel’s ongoing violations of the ceasefire in Gaza.
President Prabowo Subianto thanked the Prime Minister for the warm hospitality, saying the JF-17 Thunder aerial salute over Pakistan’s airspace was a great honor for him. He said that both countries had exchanged significant MoUs covering multiple sectors.
President Subianto reiterated Indonesia’s commitment to strengthening cooperation in education, trade, agriculture, and technology with Pakistan. He also said that both countries share a unified stance on the Gaza issue.
Earlier, the Indonesian President was given a warm reception upon arrival at the Prime Minister’s House, where he was presented with a guard of honor. He also planted a commemorative tree and met federal ministers.
This marks President Prabowo Subianto’s first official visit to Pakistan, during which he will also meet President Asif Ali Zardari.
