Pakistan Denies Canceling Any Agreement with India

The Foreign Office of Pakistan has clarified that no formal decision has been taken yet to cancel any bilateral agreement with India, including the Simla Agreement.

This statement comes in the backdrop of Federal Defense Minister Khawaja Asif yesterday declaring the Simla Agreement ineffective and saying that the Line of Control should now be considered a ceasefire line

and its status needs to be renegotiated. He added that Pakistan-India relations have now returned to the position of 1948.

Speaking on Samaa’s program ‘Nadeem Malik Live’, Khawaja Asif termed India’s Hindutva ideology as a serious threat to the region and warned that people with this ideology can go to any extent.

However, senior officials of the Foreign Office have confirmed that no formal decision has been taken to cancel the Simla Agreement or any other bilateral agreement with India.
