Pakistan Clinch Under-19 Asia Cup Title After Crushing India by 191 Runs
Pakistan created history by defeating arch-rivals India by a massive margin of 191 runs in the final of the Under-19 Asia Cup, played in Dubai. With this emphatic victory, Pakistan secured the Under-19 Asia Cup title for the first time.
Batting first, Pakistan posted a formidable total of 347 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their allotted 50 overs. Opener Samir Minhas starred with a magnificent and aggressive innings of 172 runs off 113 balls, showcasing confidence and power. Ahmad Hussain contributed 56 runs, while Usman Khan added 35 runs to strengthen Pakistan’s total. For India, Dipesh Devendran claimed three wickets, while Khlan Patel and Haneel Patel took two wickets each.
Chasing a daunting target of 348 runs, India’s batting lineup collapsed under pressure and was bowled out for just 156 runs in 26.2 overs. Dipesh Devendran, batting at number ten, was India’s top scorer with 36 runs, while opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi managed 26 runs.
Pakistan’s bowling attack was led by Ali Raza, who picked up four wickets. Muhammad Siyam, Abdul Subhan, and Huzayfa Ahsan took two wickets each, sealing a comprehensive victory for Pakistan.
It is worth noting that Pakistan’s Under-19 team has previously won the ICC Under-19 World Cup twice. However, this marks their first-ever Under-19 Asia Cup title. In the 2012 edition, Pakistan and India were declared joint champions, but this time Pakistan lifted the trophy outright, ending a 13-year wait and making history.
