Pakistan, Bangladesh to boost energy, trade ties

Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik held a series of important meetings in Dhaka aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and Bangladesh in diverse sectors, including energy, trade, and aviation. During his meeting with Bangladesh’s Adviser for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Mohammad Touhid Hossain, both sides expressed satisfaction over the resumption of institutional mechanism meetings between Pakistan and Bangladesh. The two leaders agreed to enhance collaboration in the fields of energy, natural resources, and other areas of mutual interest. Ali Pervaiz Malik remarked that a new chapter in Pakistan-Bangladesh relations has begun, emphasizing the importance of constructive dialogue and mutual respect. Adviser Touhid Hossain highlighted that the restoration of direct flights between the two countries is essential for strengthening people-to-people and economic ties. The Federal Minister also met with Mr. Sheikh Bashiruddin, Adviser on Commerce, Textiles, Civil Aviation, and Tourism, where both sides discussed future proposals for expanding bilateral trade cooperation. In another meeting with Mr. Mohammad Fauzul Kabir Khan, Adviser on Energy and Mineral Resources, the two sides reviewed progress on economic cooperation. Ali Pervaiz Malik noted that the holding of the Pakistan-Bangladesh Joint Economic Commission after 20 years is a welcome development and reflects renewed commitment toward regional partnership. Ali Pervaiz Malik expressed gratitude for Bangladesh’s warm hospitality, reaffirming Pakistan’s desire to build stronger, forward-looking relations with Bangladesh based on mutual benefit and shared growth.
