Oil and Gas Project Becomes Operational in Jhal Magsi

  A major oil and gas project in Jhal Magsi district, Balochistan, has successfully become operational. OGDC has completed the Jhal Magsi Development Project and informed the Stock Exchange about its inauguration. According to an OGDC spokesperson, the project was completed on a fast-track basis under the directives of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The project is producing 14 million cubic feet of gas and 45 barrels of oil per day, and the produced gas has been integrated into SSGCL’s main pipeline network. In the Jhal Magsi project, OGDC holds a 56% stake as the operator, POL holds 24%, and GHPL holds 20%. The project began after the government approved an incentive package in February 2024. The spokesperson added that under CSR initiatives, OGDC has constructed 84 model houses, schools, and healthcare centers for low-income and homeless people in Jhal Magsi. Scholarships and technical training opportunities have been provided to local youth through NewTech. For health facilities, ambulances, free eye camps, and ration bags for 800 families have been provided, while two RO plants and multiple water tanks have been installed to ensure clean water supply.
