Numerous Karachi Trains were Delayed

On Tuesday, several upcountry trains leaving from Karachi were running late for unknown reasons. Rain has caused a delay in the scheduled departure of Pak-Business and Millat Express from Karachi.

Additionally, there was a three-hour delay in the Karachi to Lahore Karachi Express. The Karachi Express will now depart at 9 p.m. rather than 6 p.m.

The Pak Business Express service from Karachi to Lahore has also been postponed by three hours. Rather than leaving at 4 PM today, Pak Business Express will now depart at 7 AM on Wednesday.

Additionally, the Millat Express from Karachi to Rawalpindi is running 45 minutes late and will leave at 5:45 p.m. rather than 5:00 p.m.

Due to unpaid dues, Pakistan Railways employees have halted train operations nationwide, according to an ARY News report on Tuesday.

At the Cant station, train workers blocked traffic and staged a protest on a train track.

A number of trains, including the Green Line and Rehman Baba, had their departure from Cantt station delayed because of their protest.

In the past, Pakistan Railways made the decision to modernize and market railway stations in order to generate significant income on a wide scale.

Shahid Ashraf Tarar, the acting minister of railways, made this revelation while presiding over a conference to examine the commercialization and upgrade plan for Islamabad’s Rawalpindi train station.

He went on to say that railroad stations will continue to be significant business hubs.

Days after the horrific Hazara Express tragedy at Nawabshah, the train arrival and departure schedules at the Karachi Cantt and City railway stations are still erratic. Three trains that were headed to the port city from upcountry were put on hold.

According to Shahid Ashraf Tarar, the Rawalpindi Railway Station is undergoing renovations, and its surroundings will enable it become economically viable and contribute significantly to the revenue generation for all parties involved.

When the Pakistan Express from Rawalpindi arrived in Karachi at Cantt Station at 5:30 p.m. instead of 8 a.m., after a 9.5-hour delay, the passengers exhaled with relief. Typically, the trip takes 26 hours. Passengers who were tired and locked up in compartments for more than 36 hours were losing their nerve.
