No Verdict Yet: Dr. Mahrang Baloch Still In Custody
News circulating on social media and some media outlets regarding the release of Dr. Mahrang Baloch, head of the Balochistan Solidarity Committee, has proven to be baseless.
According to legal sources, the court’s reserved decision regarding his possible release has not yet been announced.
There is severe anxiety in human rights circles and Baloch political activists in this regard, while protests are ongoing across Balochistan against the enforced disappearance and arrest of Dr. Mahrang Baloch.
Lawyers’ organizations have also demanded that the court announce the decision as soon as possible so that the facts can come out.
According to the Balochistan Solidarity Committee, Mahrang Baloch has been detained for the past several weeks, and without his release, the ongoing human rights struggle in Balochistan may be harmed.
It should be remembered that Dr. Mahrang Baloch is considered an effective and powerful voice against enforced disappearances and human rights violations in Balochistan.
A national and international campaign for their release is underway, but no clear legal progress has been made so far.
