New Zealand has announced the introduction of a Business Investor Visa, offering new opportunities for investors from Pakistan and around the world to establish and actively run businesses in the country.
According to media reports, applications for this visa will open in November this year. Under the scheme, investors can either invest 1 million USD in an existing business to obtain a three-year work-to-residence pathway, or make a 2 million USD investment to secure fast-track residency within just 12 months.
As per the criteria, Pakistani and other foreign investors may directly purchase a business or acquire at least 25% ownership, provided they meet the investment standards. The visa will be valid for four years, with a total cost of NZD 12,380 (including application fee and levy).
To qualify, investors must be 55 years of age or younger, demonstrate proficiency in English, have at least NZD 500,000 in funds, and the ability to support their families. Applicants are also required to have prior business experience and create a minimum of five full-time jobs.
Officials stated that this visa complements the existing Active Investor Plus Visa and forms part of New Zealand’s broader immigration reforms aimed at attracting global talent and investment. Further details will be released in October 2025.
