National Support Crucial For Government’s Structural Reforms: Finance Minister

Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, acknowledged the strong cooperation of federal ministries, government departments, district offices, senior secretaries, and provincial governments in advancing the government’s structural reform agenda. He stated that this collective commitment and disciplined implementation played a key role in the successful completion of the IMF’s second review under the Extended Fund Facility (EFF).

Opening today’s meeting of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC), the Minister welcomed the IMF Executive Board’s announcement confirming the completion of the second EFF review, which allows Pakistan to draw approximately USD 1 billion. He also noted the completion of the first review under the Resilience and Sustainability Facility (RSF), enabling an additional USD 200 million.

He said that the IMF recognized Pakistan’s strong program implementation, despite the recent devastating floods, which maintained financial stability and improved external and fiscal conditions. Senator Aurangzeb highlighted that Pakistan’s resilience during the flood emergency meant the country did not need to make an immediate appeal for international relief support.

The Minister expressed gratitude for the coordinated support from federal and provincial institutions, noting that this joint effort consolidates progress toward economic stability. He added that the IMF’s acknowledgment is a significant milestone, reflecting Pakistan’s strengthened financial and external position. The disbursements totaling approximately USD 1.3 billion under the EFF and RSF arrangements demonstrate confidence in the country’s economic management.
