NAROWAL: Flood Situation Worsens, Basic Facilities Missing at Relief Camps

The miseries of flood victims in Narowal are increasing day by day due to the lack of basic facilities at relief camps. People are forced to spend nights in the open with their animals.

Muhammad Ramzan, a resident of Hajiwala, drowned while trying to move his family to a safer place. Locals pulled his body from the floodwaters, and Rescue 1122 confirmed his death.

The floodwater from Rainwater Drain Dek entered Narowal city, submerging houses under two to three feet of water. Areas affected include Abbas Nagar, Kakar Colony, Satellite Town, Railway Colony, Siddiqui Colony, Kache Kothi, Ganj Hussainabad, Girls College Road, Makki Masjid Road, and Eidgah Road. Nearby villages are also flooded. Teams from other districts have arrived in Narowal to carry out rescue operations.

There is low-level flooding in Dek, Bryan, and Basantar rivers. Two days ago, the Dek dam broke near the villages of Lahri and Skroor in Tehsil Zafarwal, sending floodwaters into Narowal city. While water levels in rivers and drains are receding, the floodwater entering the city continues to rise. The railway track is submerged, and three feet of water is passing through the Narowal-Sialkot railway crossing. The Narowal Railway Station track is also flooded.

On Shakargarh Road, from Kakeki Mor to Manzoorpura, dozens of flood victims have set up temporary camps with their families and animals.
