The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has introduced a new mobile application, through which citizens will now be able to easily register important events like births, deaths and marital status from the comfort of their homes.

This announcement was made during the second meeting of the National Registration and Biometric Policy Framework Implementation Committee, which was attended by representatives of various federal ministries, regulatory authorities and provincial departments.

NADRA Chairman Lieutenant General (retd) Muhammad Munir Afsar apprised the participants of the latest changes brought in the National Registration System.

He said that the new mobile app will provide the citizens with the facility to register important life events online from the comfort of their homes.

Initially, this application will be introduced in Punjab and later its scope will be expanded across the country.

Pakistan’s first digital identity card introduced, no need for photocopy anymore

NADRA has introduced Pakistan’s first “dematerialized identity card”, after which citizens will no longer need to keep the national identity card or its photocopy in their pocket.

This digital identity card can be downloaded completely free of cost through the “Pak ID” mobile app.

According to NADRA spokesperson Syed Shabahat, citizens will scan the QR code of their existing identity card on the “Pak ID” app and the digital card will be available in the app after verification is completed within 30 minutes.

If the mobile phone is lost or stolen, the digital card can be retrieved by logging into the app on a new phone.

According to NADRA, the purpose of the digital identity card is to improve the speed of work in government offices and provide modern facilities to citizens.

According to NADRA, this app will soon also provide digital availability of Family Registration Certificate (FRC) and Child Registration Certificate (CRC).
