Multiple FIA Officers Dismissed Over Negligence In Greece Boat Tragedy Case

The Secretary of Interior and Narcotics Control has concluded departmental accountability proceedings against multiple officers and personnel of the FIA, issuing various penalties including dismissals from service.

Several officers were dismissed and many appeals were rejected after charges of negligence, corruption, and unprofessional conduct were proven in cases related to the 2023 Greece Boat Tragedy and other investigations.

According to government sources, the Secretary of Interior reviewed each case individually. In connection with the Greece Boat Tragedy 2023, a Deputy Director and two Assistant Directors posted at Karachi Airport were dismissed from service due to proven negligence. Similarly, an Assistant Director posted at Faisalabad Airport was also removed from service after charges were upheld.

A Deputy Director at Multan Airport was penalized with a three-year demotion in rank and salary for alleged links with human smugglers. Two senior investigators were dismissed for faulty investigations, while an Assistant Database Administrator was terminated for negligence and careless conduct.

Additionally, four Assistant Directors and one Inspector were penalized with a reduction in their basic pay scales for one to three years on charges of absenteeism, negligence, and poor investigation. At Islamabad Airport, an Assistant Director and an Inspector were awarded censure for mishandling a detainee.
